The NDIA does not fund cleaning simply because a house needs cleaning — that is an everyday living cost that everybody has. What it can fund is cleaning support where your disability means you cannot reasonably do the task yourself, or cannot do it safely.
In practice, planners tend to look at whether the support relates directly to your disability, whether it represents value for money, whether it is effective and beneficial for you, and whether it is more appropriately funded by another system such as health or housing.
Where to look in your plan
- Core Supports — Assistance with Daily Life is the usual home for cleaning.
- Look for wording about household tasks, domestic assistance, or house cleaning.
- Core budgets are generally flexible, so funding can often be moved between Core line items.
- If you have a support coordinator, they can confirm what your budget allows.
